☞ DWELL: The Langston Hughes House Returns

The famous Langston Hughes House at 20 East 127th Street was on the market from May to November 2009 last year for the asking price of $1.2 million. There were lots of interested folks at the open houses but even though the landmark home had quite a bit of detail to the interior, the uneven floors and overall state of the building apparently did not attract an offer worth taking. The property was removed from the market at the end of last year but now has returned 9 months later with the new price of $1 million. The house is the golden 20 foot wide, has over 3,000 square foot of space and has been chopped up into 5 bedrooms and 4 baths. DOB records still has an SRO restricted listing on the building but there's also a C5 walk-up apartment classification. The brownstone block is quiet, tree-lined and strictly residential. The 2,3 express train at Lenox and 125th Street is a good 5 minute walk westward. Check out more photos from the open house last year: LINK
