The New York Post has an article today on how New York City High Schools are performing and 70 percent seem to make the passing grade. Included is a PDF chart that has all of the city schools listed and how they scored this year: LINK. Unfortunately, the chart is not categorized by region so those researching have to know the names of the schools in their neighborhood and scan closely. A Central Harlem school that has consistently performed well is the Thurgood Marshall Academy (overall "B" "grade) which is in the building at 135th and ACP/7th Avneue that used to house Small's Paradise: LINK. The formerly high performing Frederick Douglass Academy surprisingly is underperforming this year while the Harlem Choir Academy (which was almost shut down last year) has improved to a "B" grade. Most of the underperforming schools from last year are still doing so and will possibly face closure: LINK.
Better schools have been a concern for Harlem so it probably would be of some help if officials put together a neighborhood-specific report card for uptown!
