☞ EAT: What's Up with the other Red Rooster?
Back in February of this year, there was a "For Lease" sign in front of the original Red Rooster location at 2354 ACP/7th Avenue (at 138th) and we noticed a bit of change on the site recently. The top photo shows the once exposed windows covered up with brown craft paper and that had us inspired to research a little on what was going on with the former speakeasy that Marcus Samuelsson used as a reference for his new restaurant on Lenox: LINK. Based on a job filing from September of this year the work at hand is renovating the existing commercial space by installing cooking equipment, minor carpentry and plumbing. The building itself is an official New York City landmark so there's some comfort that the new storefront will eventually have to meet some sort of historic aesthetic. Besides that bit of information, there's not much else on what the new restaurant is all about. Any tips out there? Check out more details on the original Red Rooster in our previous post with some reader insight on its history: LINK
