☞ REVIVE: The Richard Rogers Amphitheater
The new amphitheater at Marcus Garvey Park broke ground last summer and the promised a Spring 2011 opening date looks to be on schedule. The triangular sunscreen canopies appears to be now complete (which will also have lighting and sound as part of their function) and we have posted on the construction of the actual bandshell in our past post: LINK. This construction replaces an old amphitheater previously donated by Richard Rogers and the new one will still retain the name of the famous composer who grew up down the block from the park.

That construction project has taken too long to complete...
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's taken too long. They only started last summer and I have seem them consistently working thru a pretty brutal winter. I wish the renovation of some other things were moving along like this project. Looking forward to seeing it soon.
ReplyDeletei agree RJ, i think the progress has been steady and i also look forward to enjoying this improved feature of the park
ReplyDeleteThe best thing we can do is to use the amphitheater to its fullest potential. The Harlem Arts Festival, coming June 2012 will present artist of all disciplines for Harlem audiences. Can't wait for that!
