☞ READ: More on the Harlem Brewery

So last week's announcement that the old Taystee Cake factory and the adjacent lot will be transformed to a local brewery was big news and a Wall Street Journal article recently had details about the timeline for the venuture: LINK. Janus Partners LLC and Monadnock Construction Inc. are  expected to start on the 328,000-square-foot development dubbed CREATE @ Harlem Green by Spring 2012 so things are moving relatively quickly for the multi-functional facility.  The article talks about the immediate neighborhood of West Harlem but does not confirm that the area between West 125th and 126th Street between Morningside Avenue and Amsterdam is actually the east section Manhattanville.  Janus Partners has been in the area for some time and they actually own the former Bernheimer Brewery which was the first major beer manufacturer in the area and now is called the Mink Building: LINK

There is also mention of the Harlem Brewing Company which has its facilities currently in Saratoga Springs but the article does not bring up the fact that most folks know the company through its main export called Sugar Hill Golden Ale. Owner Celeste Beatty started her concept out in Harlem, has the company's offices on FDB but had to go elsewhere as the business grew but now will be involved in bringing back some industry at a part of Harlem that was formerly known for such ventures.  Read more on Celeste Beatty in our past post: LINK
