☞ SHOP: Wine Shop Opening on Sugar Hill

A tipster also had informed us last week that a new store was currently under construction at the 704 St. Nicholas Avenue which is located within West Harlem's Sugar Hill neighborhood. There used to be a shop called Straight Out of Harlem at the location between 145th and 146th Street but now the place has been emptied and one can see shelves loaded with wine bottles starting to appear on the inside. This section of St. Nicholas is on the border of the Historic District which could use a wine store so the new shop should do well at this location.  Otherwise, there is Brands Wines & Liquors which is located a couple of avenues west and used to have a striking marquee: LINK

  2. I've been waiting a long time for a wine shop to open in this area, along 145th Street and Bradhurst. What kept them so long? I hope that they will stock bottles of old world vintages, and not just concentrate on the new world wines (ie., latin America). It will be great to have a place to go to for nightly, or weekly wine tastings that is above the 125th Street area. I will be one of the first ones to cross their doorstep and give them a try when they open.

  3. Just went by there today. Not a huge selection, but very pleasant staff. Hope they stick around for a long time.
