☞ WALK: Inside the Overlook Pavilion

The Overlook Pavilion facing the Hudson at 122nd Street finished up a long renovation process but many might not know that there is more to the classical structure than just being a place to get river views.  A small sign out front provides the only clue that the pavilion itself is also visitor center with a few amenities. More photos after the jump.

Walking down the side stairs, one will find that lower space used to house public bathrooms back in the day but the interior now has many purposes. A brand new bathroom is included in the mix but the lower pavilion now serves as a museum bookstore with Civil War souvenirs along with serving as an exhibit space.  It's all well done since the classical details of the original space is nicely blended with modern furnishing and provides a nice place for a respite while visiting Grant's Tomb.
