☞ ARCHITECTURE: Original Tenement Doors
Wood entrance doors are common to most brownstones but all of the old tenement buildings used to have a similar aesthetic when they were built over a century ago. Most in the city are familiar with the industrial metal and glass doors found in the entrance way of these old buildings but a remnant from the past at East 117th Street shows that wood was the material used. The window panes have been replaced by another material and the most of the old paint has chipped away but this rare piece of the past displays a time when craft and function went hand in hand.
