☞ REMEMBER: The Watts Farm circa 1890

An illustration from the 19th century shows the Watts estate at West 137th Street and 7th Avenue.  A mansion would soon arise on this spot right around the corner from Strivers Row and would soon be surrounded by tenements and brownstones.  The mansion would succumb to the wrecking ball by the early part of the 20th century and any hint of the country estate became a distant memory. Check out our past post to see the mansion and what the area looks like today: LINK
