☞ DWELL: 221 West 113th Street Townhouse

OPEN HOUSE: Sunday, August 19th, 2:00 PM-4:00 PM. The house at 221 West 113th Street went into contract back in 2010, then was removed from the market entirely and has been offered up at a new(almost double) price in the past year. After disappearing from the market, the 16-foot-wide property is up on the market again for a $1.99 million asking price.  Apparently the same family has been living their for decades and the home is being listed a single-family but the space is pretty chopped up.

On the positive side, this townhouse is a block away from the lower FDB corridor which makes it convenient for shopping, dining, transportation and the local parks. There's also some details especially in the parlor area which has a lot of original woodwork. The negative is that the rest of the house is really not in the best of shape from what we could tell when looking at it last year. Then there is also the abandoned New York public housing tenements that face the backyard which apparently will now be restored in the near future.  More photos on Streeteasy: LINK

  1. This is Willie Kathryn Suggs again. For those of you interested in Harlem real estate--or a human nature story--I recommend the 2008 New York Magazine article on her. Also a Times follow up. I found them fascinating
