☞ DWELL:Renovations at Mount Morris Synagogue

The old African-American synagogue on Mount Morris Park West and 123rd Street has finally started its renovation process based on photos sent in by one Bespoke reader.  As folks might recall, the corner townhouse facing Marcus Garvey Park had a bit of controversy to it since one faction of the former congregation accused the other of not having the right to sell the property.  Plywood has sealed off the entrance for some time now and protest signs were constantly posted on that said barrier until now.  Check out the photo update after the jump.

A notable author and his partner purchased the 25-foot-wide, 10,000-square-foot building for just $1.85 million a couple of years ago and now a full renovation appears to be at hand.  The steel door entrance has now been revealed in the past week and several permits can be seen posted up to the right of the portal.  New pipes were also seen stacked up behind the front gates so the plumbing appears to be getting an update. This entire building will be converted back into a single-family home with a possible cultural salon included based on a past report: LINK
