☞ ARCHITECTURE: Historic House Photos

A Bespoke reader just moved into a house that belonged to her husband's family for generations and asked how they can find pictures of the old stoop that was knocked down by a car traffic mishap many decades ago.  The Museum of the City of New York has a digital library online that might be accessed but is not complete of all addresses: LINK

The government also has tax photos that have been taken in the 30s and 40s or the 80s that may be ordered online here: LINK

    This place is right up the street from my place. I LOVE these sites that have vintage libraries ! I was thrilled to find photos of Sugar Hill before it was THE hill. Thanks Ulysses

    I would expect the original stoop was still complete and visible in the 1939 tax photos.

    Thanks for the info. I am the reader who wrote to you! I will order the 1940s tax photo and hope to see the stoop! Otherwise, I haven't found any photos that show the stoop, and I've searched and searched. Thanks for posting this. The houses in the photo are across the street and down the block a bit from mine.
