☞ ARCHITECTURE: Bespoke Spokes in Harlem

We have been noticing some really cool old cast iron spoked wheels on buildings that separate property from one another.  This is a form and function design issue that a more modern Harlem should be looking at since times have indeed changed.  The lower photo shows two roof top fences and one can see that the government-restored building to the left has placed a more contextually correct separator which adds protection and charm at the same time.  Barb wire might be something used even a decade ago but Harlem has since changed and maybe more building owners will go back to the traditional aesthetics that will also improve the look of their property.  We were also surpised last year when the same building had its missing cornice replaced: LINK

  1. Nicely evocative of a bygone era... when the evisceration of trespassers was at least handled with a sense of style!
