The oldest house that is still in residential use was built in 1864 at 17 East 128th Street. This clapboard home located just east of 5th Avenue is in perfect conditions today and appears have all of its original details on the interior and exterior. Not many homes remain in Harlem that existed before 1880 so this country charmer definitely has some serious history credentials to it. The other homes in Harlem that are older are not used as private residences today: LINK
