☞ REVIVE: Demolition at the Taystee Factory Site

Walking by West 126th Street and Amsterdam Avenue yesterday, we noticed that a demolition crew was deconstructing some of the old buildings by the Taystee Cake Factory site. This is the redevelopment project that would bring a brewery back to Harlem and open up other manufacturing facilities in the this section of Manhattanville.  The ground breaking was delayed this year but now it appears things are progressing.  We had assumed that the old buildings would incorporated into the new structure but that does not appear to be the case now.  A rendering can be found in our past post: LINK

  1. Those buildings are in seriously bad shape. They have been neglected much too long. Incorporating them into anything new would have been a mistake. I live nearby and I never walk underneath them for fear of collapse. I can't wait to see a new building there!

  2. They should make this into a mixed use building. I love the idea of having a commercial outlet into a residential building. Hope it wont be all glass building, they should incorporate red brick into the new design

  3. See link below for Architect's website. Not sure if the images represent the latest renderings but its an idea of what will be going in the site. I think it's a great improvement for the manufacturing district.
