REVIVE: RESTORATION AT 533 MANHATTAN AVENUE
Number 533 Manhattan Avenue by 123rd Street was probably one of the last great deals in South Harlem since the townhouse sold 2 years ago for $630K. We have been following the restoration process ever since and now the worst house on the best block actually has the best facade. The new owners have restored every detail of the crumbling brownstone out front and everything looks brand new on the exterior. Apparently nothing was salvageable inside so the entire interior had to be reconstructed in a less decorative manner. Homes in good condition by the Morningside Park corridor go well over the $2 million mark so investing in this sort of detailed restoration eventually pays off at the end. Now if only someone would buy the empty lot next door!
