ARCHITECTURE: CONTEXTUAL AFFORDABLE HOUSING
There are a handful of smaller lots set aside for affordable housing in South Harlem that are finishing up and the end result have been quite contextual. These yellow brick buildings vary in levels but have an established base on the lower level, which then transitions to brick and then a simplified cornice crowns everything off. The one shown above is located on 115th Street but larger versions of the exact design can also be found at 116th Street and 112th Street. We are not a fan of the built in air conditioning unit on the outside but at least these new homes are not bland boxes.

Nice! Good to see that even with gentrification going on, Harlem can remain a mixed income neighborhood that includes middle class citizens, not just rich & poor.
