Back in the day, many Harlem brownstones were chopped up into Single Room Occupancy units as a cheap rent option and several still exists today. The idea is that for a few hundred dollars, one could basically be in a boarding room setup with shared bathroom and kitchen areas. Rooms vary in sizes but the tiny space at 67 West 119th Street might get the record for its diminutive stature since it only contains a bed that pretty much looks like a bench. All this can be yours for just $1,250 a month which apparently is supposed to be somewhat of deal for those who want to live by themselves:
