DWELL: MAYA ANGELOU TOWNHOUSE IN CONTRACT
After being on the market for just under five months and a slight price reduction to $4.595 million, the Maya Angelou townhouse at 58 West 120th Street now has a contract out. The late poet's family had the single-family brownstone placed on the market at the end of January for just over $5 million but that number was reduced a couple of time in the consecutive months. This gut renovated home with some original details in the parlor is ready to move into but the new owner will probably update a few of the current finishes. A record sale in Hamilton Heights almost hit $5 million this year but it is unclear if this notable address in the Mount Morris Park Historic District will do the same. Whole Foods will be opening up in a matter of months on nearby Lenox Avenue so sales records for this neighborhood will be the ones to watch out for the remainder of the year.
