BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT 2016: OSO
There are a lot great hole in the wall Mexican spot uptown that are quite affordable but those looking for tacos at the next level had to wait until this year for something better to arrive. Matthew Trebek's Oso opened up on Amsterdam Avenue by 140th Street back in May and has easily become the best spot for high quality Mexican cuisine in Harlem. With tortilla all made in-house, this Hamilton Heights newcomer is a hit with authentic flavors and a contemporary aesthetic that mixes classic details with more modern finishings. Mezcal cocktails are also a specialty here so connoisseurs of the smoky Mexican elixir should definitely stop by this location with beautiful views of City College. Hamilton Heights is definitely the neighborhood to watch out for in the future since so many notable eateries have arrived in the past couple of years and quite a few have been included in the Best of the Year roundup.
