Harlem Bespoke: Construction has begun at the former Applebee's address at 1 west 125th Street but it is now unclear if a notable NYC burger chain will be arriving soon. Several new permits have been posted on the DOB website this month but a different type of business has been listed. We should have an update later on in the week, so stay tuned.
Any chance it could be a Trader Joe's or an Aldi? Looks like the construction company that filed the permit has worked with both before AND they're working on the basement, which is pretty standard for NYC Trader Joe's.
I walked by early this morning and saw a construction worker waiting to start work. I asked him if Shake Shack was is being constructed and he appeared to nod a yes, but not sure if he spoke English! 😳
