UPDATE: MORE DETAILS AT GINJAN CAFE
Harlem Bespoke: Signs had been posted up announcing that Ginjan Cafe would open at the lower level of the Corn Exchange building in July but the month has already passed and nothing has happened since. So what's going on with the new business started up by two local siblings known for selling a traditional West African pineapple juice drink? We actually ran into one of the Diallo brothers this morning and got a preview of the interior of the cafe located by Park Avenue at the corner of East 125th Street.
There have been delays which are common in most openings but the interior is pretty much complete except for all of the soft furnishing. There is actually a much more contemporary aesthetic than originally planned with graphic wall paper and a dramatic modern chandelier hanging over the center of the space. Brass hard finishes soften things up a little with the wall lighting and massive wood table that anchors the floor is made of from a huge tree trunk that has been polished so that the center grain is visible. A soft opening should be happening by the end of the summer so stay tuned for additional updates in the next couple of weeks. More details on Ginjan Cafe can be found in our past post: LINK
