SHOP: ZARO'S BAKERY ARRIVING ON EAST 125TH STREET
Harlem Bespoke: We have been on the east side of 125th Street a lot in the latter half of the year because of all the construction that is starting to happen in the area. On our last visit this past Sunday we noticed that the tall prewar building on the northeast side of 125th Street at Park Avenue had an announcement posted in the windows. Apparently Zaro's Bakery is opening a big storefront by the Metro North train station and is the 2nd major family business to arrive in the area. Ginjan Cafe just opened up across the street in early fall and the arrival of Zaro's should help the block become more business friendly in the near future.
Zaro's Bakery apparently has 11 locations in Greater New York City and the Bronx-based business has been around since 1927 and has been run by the same family for 4 generations. There is a lot of opportunity around the Metro North station and big changes will definitely be arriving in the area in the next 10 years since the 2nd Avenue subway entrance should open on the south side of the block by then. More on Zaro's can be found on their official website: LINK
