BESPOKE: A CHERRY TREE IN HARLEM

Harlem Bespoke: The garden keepers of Harlem really have such green thumbs since fruit trees appear to do well in the neighborhood.  We walked by the community garden at the corner of 126th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard this week and noticed that cherries had started to ripen on the branches.  There is also an apple tree that bears fruit on Convent Avenue and  a verdant peach tree in front of one of the houses on Astor Row.  These plots of land are relatively small and seeing abundant fruit is such a surprise since larger parks in Manhattan don not appear to yield such results.
