MONUMENTS: BLACK SCULPTURE IN HARLEM
Harlem Bespoke: The rest of the country might have little or no representation of black monuments in public spaces but Harlem probably has one of the large collections of diverse public art to be realized in any neighborhood. Former Studio Museum in Harlem resident artist Kehinde Wiley made a statement in Time Square last year against all of the confederate monuments in the South which might also of been inspired by the iconic black figurative sculpture found uptown.
We will have more updated posts on the history of each works of arts in future articles since each one deserves more written words attributed to them. More on Kehinde Wiley's dynamic sculptural work can be found in our past post: LINK
