REMEMBER: THE HARLEM HOME OF LANGSTON HUGHES

Harlem Bespoke:  We have written a lot about Langston Hughes since beginning the blog over a decade ago and wanted to go back and take a look at some of our original archival photos of the historic Harlem home 20 East 127th Street.  This was probably taken all on the first generation iPhone camera so everything is a little blurry but the beauty of the interior is quite undeniable.

Every month is pretty much black history month on the site and we started everything up all those years ago with a goal of trying to keep uptown's rich heritage in the forefront.   Langston Hughes was one of the few luminaries from the Harlem Renaissance that actually stayed in Harlem and lived at this notable address from 1947 to 1967 until the end of his life.  Uptown's most famous neighborhood was a political and artistic stepping stone for many celebrities of the day but only those who truly loved this part of upper Manhattan chose to stay permanently.  Check out our original post written after viewing the home at an open house: LINK
