GREEN HARLEM: PROGRESS AT MONTEFIORE PARK

Harlem Bespoke:  Some major progress has finally been happening at the Montefiore Park expansion just off of Broadway and 137th Street.  Before the triangular patch of green space was regulated by a couple of narrow paths and was not really a public environment to enjoy. Ground breaking was back in 2018 but not much seemed to be happening until now.

What is really cool here now is that the street section of Hamilton Place on the east side has totally been filled in so the new landscape will almost double in size.  There will also be circular plaza steps to sit on and lots of new trees will be planted.  Less car traffic and more green space means better air quality for the neighborhood so this is a fantastic example for other parts of the city.  Check out the full design in our past post from 3 years ago: LINK
