SEE: MOTHERHOOD BY ALICE NEAL
Harlem Bespokes: The incredible Alice Neel exhibit at The Met showcases many portraitures of motherhood which is often neglected within more contemporary art in the past mid century. What we especially love about the portraiture presented is that the artist actually painted her everyday neighbors and friends while living in obscurity in East Harlem. There is also a range of adults and bohemians in the vast exhibit but the children and mothers really shine through since not many artists have focused on portraying family within their lifework. More on the Alice Neel exhibit can be found in our past post: LINK
