Harlem Bespoke: The plaza expansion at Montefiore Park on Broadway West 137th Street did not pick up until about a year ago and now some of the final finishes are being installed. We walked by and saw a shiny new kiosk stand with fantastic curves to match those of the rounded paths within the new park design that actually expands into the former side street that was seldom used.
What is really cool here now is that the street section of Hamilton Place on the east side has totally been filled in so the new landscape will almost double in size. There will also be circular plaza steps to sit on and lots of new trees will be planted. Less car traffic and more green space means better air quality for the neighborhood so this is a fantastic example for other parts of the city.
