Harlem Bespoke: We always wondered what the block just east of Park Avenue on 116th Street used to look like so dug up some archival images. All the buildings past the corner appear to have been altered at some point and photos from the 1940s reveal that a line of brownstones used to be part of the mix. All of the cornices and facade ornamentations have now been removed so the architectural history has somewhat ben erased in this part of El Barrio. Those who want to get a better feel for how this area used to look can just start walking further east since quite a few brownstones are still intact going towards Lexington Avenue.
