Harlem Bespoke: We checked out the re-enactment of the the Battle of Fort Washington this past weekend and was impressed 245th Anniversary event which highlighted the historic defeat of the patriots at a crucial uptown stronghold that the neighborhood would be known for. Fort Tryon Park's great lawn hosted the crowds for the day everything started up around noon.

This is probably the closest thing to a renaissance fair to be found uptown and families showed up from the neighborhood to get glimpse of American history thanks to the Fort Tyron Park Trust. A mock up battle would happen later on in the afternoon and many of the soldiers on hand provided information to the crowd on some of the key points of the big day. Displays of food, fashions and a hammer smith with an open fire entertained the crowds. Mark your calendars for next year if you missed out on this one since it is definitely worth visit especially for all the families out there.
