ARCHITECTURE: 46 EDGECOMBE PLANNED ALTERATIONS?

Harlem Bespoke: Number 46 Edgecome at the corner of 137th Street might have met a similar fate to the neighbor across the street but now things will probably move towards a more classical direction.  Before the blocks had any landmark protection, one of the local religious establishments altered one of the facades on the block with inaccurate updates and we discovered a few years back that another house of worship as about to do the same across the street.
Luckily the neighborhood has now been officially designated the Dorrance Brooks Square Historic District in the past several months and Number 46 Edgcombe will remain intact apparently.  The sidewalk shed is still up but the original plan for a modern looking mosque alteration is no longer in place from what we can see.  Not much has actually been happening on site these days and so it is unclear what the end use of the building will eventually be.  More on the new historic district can be found in our past post: LINK
