REMEMBER: VERTICAL SIGNAGE AT LOEWS 175

Harlem Bespoke:  The impressive vertical signage at United Palace on Broadway by 175th Street might just be revived soon and so we did a little research on what the original looked like back in the day.  Surprisingly the Wonder Theatre was only designated as an official NYC landmark back in 2016 but now that means any alteration to the facade must follow historic accuracy.  Archival photos from the 1940s will provide a clue to what the final restoration might look like but the lettering could possibly spell out United Palace this time around.  Most of the vertical facade signage has disappeared throughout the city over the decades and this might be just the first one to be fully restored in the near future.  Check out the previous condition of vertical signage and also the interior of the United Palace in our past post: LINK
