Harlem Bespoke: Those who dream about living in a former Gilded Age firehouse in Manhattan might just be in luck these days. Number 307 West 121st Street is located just west of prime Frederick Douglass Boulevard and was a firehouse from 1892 to 2006 but now is on the market for $6.5 million. So what's with the high asking? Probably has to do with the building being converted into a 4-unit loft apartments layout and so it is more like a rental building versus being a brownstone. The location south of 125th Street is also highly favorable also since express trains are only 3 blocks away and the FDB commercial corridor or Morningside Park are just an avenue over in either direction. With that said, whoever buys the historic address will probably upgrade the interior with more higher end finishes or even possibly make it into single or two family home with more space to live in.
