Harlem Bespoke: We noticed that something was missing on the corner of Adam Clayton Powell and West 138th Street because of the newly exposed bricks looked out of place at the townhouse address. Then came the realization that the old newsstand that had been here for decades has since been demolished. This was next door to the original Red Rooster speakeasy and we had photos on file taken a couple of years back on hand to compare the before and after. Since this was not officially part of the Strivers Row landmark architecture, the alteration technically is accurate with the original plan for the historic block. Check out our past post for a photo from the early 1930s when the newsstand was not in place: LINK
