☞ DWELL: 605 West 147th Street Brownstone
OPEN HOUSE: September 26th, 1:00 PM-2:30 PM. On the market for one and a half year now, the narrow 13 foot wide brownstone at 605 West 147th Street (house at far right of top photo), just west of Broadway, eventually had several price chops from its original $2.15 million asking price. As of recent, the new asking price is at $999K for the legal 2-family building. The main plus for the house is that it appears to be move-in ready and has a lot of original detail restored. On the minus is that it basically is a one family building and the location is a little isolated. That said, the immediate brownstone block is pretty well kept and the 1 train is a short two blocks south.

i saw this house probably 4 times! i call it the jewel box house because it is so lovely and perfect. it has been owned by the same nice woman for 40 years and she obviously took very good care of it. even though its only 13 ft wide, the rooms are beautifully proportioned. the entrance parlor with it's reading nook is heart breakingly charming. it's only problem s i ca see, is that the "rental" apt is on the top floor and your tenant would have to walk through your house. it really is a one family with a separate apt for a relative. i could not ask my 86 yr old father to walk up that many flights to get to his separate apt. i tried to convince my brother and his wife to move into it with me.
ReplyDeletei'm so sad that it's priced so cheaply. it is a treasure
and the street is lovely with a view of the river and near the subway. who could ask for more?
