☞ READ: The Museum for African Art Delayed
The New York Times recently had an article about the delayed Museum for African Art located within the new Robert A.M. Stern condo building at 1280 Fifth Avenue in East Harlem. The most recent opening date was set for April 2011 but now it has been pushed back to September or October of next year. Museum officials blame it on construction delays but the building developers have said that they have been on schedule this year. The Times also points out that the museum is currently short $24 million out of the required $95 million needed to pay for construction. Originally, everything was set to happen sometimes in 2009 but quicksand-like sediment was found on the site and caused the initial scheduling conflict. Read more about it in the times: LINK. I am sorely disappointed. I have a keen appreciation for African art and was looking forward to going there frequently and becoming intimately involved with the museum.
ReplyDeleteAnd those condos are very, very expensive...!
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice addition to that corner. I can see it from my window. Sorry for the delay but look forward to their permanent home being so close.
