☞ BESPOKE: A Cobalt Door on West 120th

One of the worst shells in South Harlem that sold back in 2011 now has a new look.  This townhouse just east of St. Nicholas Avenue has been going through a gut renovation for over a year now and everything appears to be in order.  Once the facade had been repaired, a cool shade of gray was painted on the front walls and the finishing touch is a brilliant blue for the entrance.  As far as contemporary updates goes, we like the choices made for this townhouse since the building still looks balanced with its past while moving forward to the future.

Check out what the building looked like in our past post: LINK

  1. Color choice is both courageous and effective.

  2. The decorative lintels were removed from the windows but keeping the cornice along with the door portico really helps the townhouse still look complete.

  3. So do you think, as you noted in the former post: "This derelict 17-foot-wide building is probably one of the worst ones on the block so converting this former SRO will definitely be an improvement for the neighborhood." Has the renovation made an improvement? I guess perhaps Ivan might weigh in???
