BESPOKE: THE HATTERS OF HARLEM

The New York post just had another feature on Harlem milliner Rod Keenan which reminded us that hat specialists are kind of a thing in Harlem these days.  Below are the Bespoke picks for those looking for great hats from some of the best outlets that Harlem has to offer.

Rod Keenan has lived in Harlem for 15 years while making hats for such celebrity clients as Maxwell and Justin Timberlake.  Mr. Keenan's castle abode just located below 125th Street was a shell when it was first purchased, took 2 years to renovate and also has a work studio on the lower floors: LINK

Marc Williams founded Flamekeepers Hat Club last year on St. Nicholas by 121st Street and has since become one of the best fashion retail storefronts that uptown has to offer.  Many brands and styles from various parts of the world can be found at Flamekeepers with the selection changing seasonally:  LINK

Karema Deodato is a milliner from Hamilton Height that specializes mostly in women's chapeaux and has a design studio in her prewar apartment.  Ms. Deodato's designs are sold in small boutiques but can all be found at Sugar Hill Market every other Sunday: LINK
