Harlem Bespoke: Number 265 West 131st Street had been neglected so long that shell status was even questionable in recent years. Everything pretty much collapsed within and had been removed from the lot and the front facade was the only thing standing. This part of the block just east of FDB also faces public housing so was a hard sell a few years ago but eventually exchanged hands in 2015 for $574K which is quite a deal nowadays for land. Permits were filed back in 2017 and everything just finished up so what eventually happened to the crumbling facade?
As can bee seen from the above photo taken this week, everything was fully restored with the addition of two floors. We would have preferred some sort of cornice detail at the top but this final outcome is not so shabby. Our opinion is that since this is the only architecturally intact part of the block, any bit of historic charm will definitely add to the value of the new property which now blends in smoothly with the next door neighbors. Check out the colorful comments in our past post from 2010 which had many questioning the value of the property: LINK
