Harlem Bespoke: Before the pandemic, there was only one LGBT bar in Central Harlem but now there are a total of 4 gay bars in the neighborhood! We just walked by the former Cantina storefront this week on Adam Clayton by 112th Street and took the above photos of Next bar which clearly has rainbow colors in the signage. A tip came in mentioning the new arrival which mentioned that the sign out front also mentions 4 West Lounge.
Last fall,
4 West Lounge secured the storefront at West 127th Street and Frederick Douglass and prior to that
Lambda Lounge opened in the summer of 2020 just 5 blocks north on the same avenue. Then there is the first of the decade which was Alibi Lounge on Strivers row which debuted in Summer of 2016 and all of these establishments are black owned, small businesses.
