Harlem Bespoke: There is now a petition up to urge the city to landmark uptown's only abolitionist house at 857 Riverside Drive by 159th Street.  As reported earlier in the week, demolition permits have already been filed and activist, the community board along with local politicians are trying to urge the city's Landmark Preservation Commission to reconsider protecting the antebellum house.  There is a great potential here for restoration and the address can become a reminder of the efforts of the underground railroad to free enslaved black Americans in the 19th Century.  The petition is easy to fill out and only takes seconds to make a difference: SaveRiverside.org

Harlem Bespoke: The church on Edgecombe at the corner of 140th Street had been sold to developers for $7.5 million back in 2017 but now it appears that the powers that be want to take away forthcoming landmark protection so that it can all be demolished.   Landmarks now is proposing to remove Mt. Calvary Church on 140th and Edgecombe (and the two adjacent brownstones) from the proposed Dorance Brooks Historic District which goes up for official commission review on Tuesday February 2nd.   Which likely means a new tall building will likely replace it.  Below is a quick link to generate a letter showing your support with including Mt. PETITION: SAVE THE COLISEUM THEATRE

Harlem Bespoke:  A petition has been posted to save the Coliseum Theatre by a life-long Washington Heights resident and already has 6,806 signatures.  The abandoned historic site on the corner of 181st Street was built in 1920 has no landmark protection and developers have been reviewing plans to demolish the architectural gem completely.  Check out the Change.org site for more details and sign up to save the Coliseum: LINK
