INTRODUCING: FIRST LOOK AT LUCILLE'S

Harlem Bespoke:  We finally dropped by Lucille's on Macombs Place at 150th Street this past week and took a few photos of the coffee spot partly started up by the team from Manhattanville Coffee.  The interior has the now in vogue 70s vibe with a substantial amount of wood paneling and hanging plants that add a lot of warmth to the open space with about 50 seats or so.

EAT: SHRIMP MAC AND CHEESE AT LUCILLE'S

Harlem Bespoke:  Lucille's on Macombs Place by 150th Street opened quietly this year as a coffee shop during the day but now has evening cocktail hours.  We will go over the crafted drinks at a later date since the food here is worth mentioning.  There apparently is a serious kitchen in the back headed up by chef Nick Cerda and the Three Cheese Mac (click on above menu to enlarge) caught our eye for the evening.  Served up in a clay casserole, this orechiette pasta dish is probably one of the most photogenic incarnations of the classic that we have seen in a long time.  Additions included serrano chili, bacon or shrimp and we chose the seafood option which turned out to be quite satisfying.

Jerk Chicken tacos, BBQ ribs, a beef Cottage Pie and Roasted Cauliflower Soup are some of the other offerings on the menu but we did not have time this time around to make a bigger dinner order.  Lucille's is basically a cozy 70s lounge but the food service is a little more substantial than other bars so definitely drop by for quick bite if you are in the neighborhood.   More on Lucille's can be found in our past post: LINK

LISTEN: LIVE JAZZ NIGHT AT LUCILLE'S

Harlem Bespoke:  Live music lovers can check out the jazz vibes at Lucille's on Macomb Place by 150th Street every Thursday evening starting at 8:00PM with dinner or drink service.  The charming corner space in Central Harlem has a very current 70's mood to it which doubles as a cozy coffee spot during the day but also makes for a lovely evening out when cocktails are served up at the bar.

EAT: PEPPERONI CUP PIZZA AT LUCILLE'S

Harlem Bespoke:  One of the other pizza trends to be happening in the city is the pepperoni cup style pizza which uses smaller scale slices that curl up into a cup.  Eater NY mentioned that this pepperoni cup is popular in Buffalo and parts of the midwest but only recently has been taking over as the hip new slice to try out in town.  We stopped by Lucille's Pizza next door to Lucille's at Macombs Place at the corner of 150th Street yesterday to grab a slice and discovered that roni cups have arrived in Harlem.  Not only are the edges of the pepperoni a little more crisp, hungry diners will also discover more covering the pizza than one usually finds on a regular portion.

We actually could not help but pick off a few to taste before taking the above photo because there was so much on top.  With all that said, pizza snobs should take note and make way to this charming spot in Central Harlem.  More on the arrival of Lucille's can be found in our past post: LINK

EAT: FIRST LOOK AT PIZZA BY LUCILLE'S

Harlem Bespoke: We finally were able to drop by Pizza by Lucille's at 26 Macombs Place by 150th Street this week and ordered a couple of slices to go.  Everything is made in house and the eatery houses mostly a kitchen and counter space but has a small seating area upfront.  The introductory menu is pretty edited right now but we can definitely say that the pies here are worthy of uptown's pizza movement of recent years.  Slices are available at the counter for individual orders and 18 inch pies can be made to order.  Pizza by Lucille's is now open from 11:00AM to 10:00PM everyday except on Mondays so drop by to get some of the best pizza to be had in Harlem.  More on Lucille's in our past post: LINK

EAT: MORE NEW DETAILS ON LUCILLE'S

Harlem Bespoke: Lucille's at the corner of 150th and Macombs Place is currently finishing up construction and the owner of the eatery has now been revealed.  An article in Fordham news mentions that an alumni named Matthew Trebek is opening his second restaurant in Harlem by the aforementioned moniker which should come to now surprise.  The younger Trebek has been an uptowner for a few years now and originally opened a popular Mexican spot called Oso on Amsterdam by 140th Street in Hamilton Heights back in 2016.  With that said, it appears that the local restauranteur will be introducing a more cozy cafe in Central Harlem that has a more historic appeal than the contemporary mix of the previous endeavor.  There will also be Lucille's pizza next door and this new arrival will be one of the best restaurants to debut uptown in the past couple of years if the food is anything like Oso: LINK

SHOP: LUCILLE'S ARRIVING ON 150TH STREET

Harlem Bespoke: We received at tip from a Bespoke reader mentioning that Lucille's will be opening soon at the corner of 150th and Macombs Place in Central Harlem.  Separated by an existing hair salon, one of the storefronts will be a new pizza shop and the corner space will be a cafe that will transition to a fuller menu at night.  Both are under the umbrella of Lucille's. These tandom businesses are care of the team behind Manhattanville Coffee on Edgecomb and Oso Mexican on Amsterdam.  Common Good coffee shop recently opened nearby on 149th Street so this section of Harlem will be one to watch in the upcoming months: LINK

SHOP: FACADE REVEAL AT LUCILLE'S

Harlem Bespoke:  Back in November we received a tip that a coffee shop along with a sister takeout pizza spot called Lucille's was under construction at the corner of 150th by Macomb and now it appears things are really moving along quickly.  More information came in mentioning that two facades had been completed so we checked out the block this weekend.

The main coffee shop looks about ready to open from the outside but some final touches within might take a couple of more weeks to complete.  Lucille's Pizza is just past the black awning on the lower photo and will probably need less work to get up an running since this is a smaller operation.  Upper Central Harlem by 150th Street has only started to pick up in commercial interest in the past year and Lucilles will definitely do well since there is not much happening around the immediate neighborhood.   See what this corner space originally looked like in our past post: LINK

INTRODUCING: MANHATTANVILLE COFFEE AT LUCILLE'S

Harlem Bespoke:  The new Lucille's cafe at the corner of Macombs Place and 150th Street will apparently open tomorrow courtesy of Manhattanville Coffee.  As previously mentioned, the owner of Oso in Hamilton Heights has partnered up with the local java joint for a day-to-night operation in Central Harlem.
